Jeannine Mattox McFadyen Obituary

Mrs. Jeannine Clark Mattox McFadyen, 81, of Mershon, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2024, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Blackshear, GA on March 10, 1942, she had lived in Pierce County all her life.  Mrs. Jeannine was a 1960 graduate of Blackshear High School.  She helped run Mattox Grocery with her former husband for many years but had also worked for Farmers & Builders, The Oak Plaza Restaurant, and Pierce Transit where she was a driver.  In her spare time, she enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, feeding the birds (she especially loved the hummingbirds), tending to their horses, and loving on her dog, Sugar.  For many years, Mrs. Jeannine sang at weddings and funerals as well as sang with different Trios and Quartets.  Always a people-person, she never met a stranger and truly had a gift for interacting with children.  Mrs. Jeannine loved to laugh, and she was considered “the funny sister” among her siblings. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.  She was a member of Bristol Baptist Church.

She was a daughter of the late Joseph P. & Everlean Spradley Clark.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Stan Mattox; a daughter, Connie Marie Randall; and a sister, Alice Mullis.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Ian G. McFadyen of Mershon; two sons, Sands (Wendy) Mattox of Waycross and Clark Mattox of Blackshear; a daughter-in-law, Kim Mattox of Waycross; two sisters, Ruth Beezley of Statesboro and Bobbie Howard of Blackshear; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe & Nell Clark of Blackshear; 11 grandchildren, Caleb (Marty) Mattox of Waynesville, NC, Whitney (Kennith) Bennett of Clyo, Brandon Mancil of Patterson, Josie-Tatum Mattox of Macon, Ellie Mattox of Milledgeville, Drew Mattox of Blackshear, Zeke Mattox of Blackshear, Carter Mattox of Blackshear, Samantha Strickland of Pooler, Spencer Randall of Chicago, and Trey Randall of Chicago; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
