Thomas Wayne Barber

Mr. Thomas Wayne Barber, 73, of Blackshear, passed away late Saturday afternoon, March 23, 2024, at Harborview – Pierce County.

Born in Blackshear, GA on February 23, 1951, he lived in Pierce County most of his life.  Mr. Barber worked in the pulp wood industry in his younger days and went on to become a heavy equipment operator, retiring from Douglas Electric and Plumbing after 25 years of service.  He enjoyed fishing and mechanics and loved gardening and working in his yard.  He also loved to joke around and spend time with his family.  Mr. Barber will be remembered as a good husband, father, and grandfather.

He was a son of the late James Everette & Sarah Bell Dixon Barber.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Annette Yeomans; and a brother, Jimmy Barber, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Cindy Moody Barber of Blackshear; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa & Matt Everett of Loxahatchee, FL and Christie & JW Harrell of Ware Co.; a son, Joshua Moody of Waynesville; a sister, Ginger (Michael) Strickland of Blackshear; four brothers, Billy (Gwen) Barber of Blackshear, George (Libby) Barber of Coward, SC, Johnny (Judy) Barber of Blackshear, and Jerry (Suzanne) Barber of Blackshear; a sister-in-law, Martha Barber of Waycross; 9 grandchildren, Aaron Davis, Matthew (Becca) Everett, Ciarra (Travis) Lee, Sarah (Gaven) Williams, Elijah Harrell, Gabriel Moody, Thomas Moody, Hailey Moody, and Shelby Driggers; 6 great grandchildren, Whitley Everett, Matthew Everett, Kairi Lee, Amethyst Lee, Gwendolyn Williams, and Thomas Williams; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Memorialization is by cremation.
